What the Fed said is that they will do what is appropriate - to increase or reduce its pace of purchases. The Fed also expects inflation to be below the 2% target in the medium term. So whilst this does mean QE3 will continue it is neither permanent nor unlimited - it is appropriate and that means that as unemployment within a context of price stability improves they will likely scale back and ...more

What the FED is doing is sweeping QE under the rug by putting it on ALGORITHM . Saves all the embarrasing quarterly justification by the FED Chairman regarding the run away QE money printing . The program will work on the various inputs that they feed it and it will work on it's own . Inputs such unemployment rate, inflation rate, GDP rate, interest rate and various indices will be run by ...more

...sweeping QE under the rug by putting it on ALGORITHM . Rambler you haven't a clue what you are talking about. The Fed are bankers and economists - everything they do is based on algorithms. ... will be run by black box . Newsflash Rambler! No-one is scared about black boxes as we all use them - your posting from a black box. Do you think this is the 60's? Are you still terrified by ...more

Well we both agree that QE will by done by algorithm . That system is going to be permanent and unlimited . There won't be a QE 3 or QE4 or 5 but the QE will be for the forseeable future = forever as we know it . In otherwords the black box will increase or decrease on it's own based on the desired indicie objective . Right now it is aimed at inflation and unemployment but ...more

... will by done by algorithm . Just about everything is done by algorithm. Poor rambler - are you starting a new luddite movement? Do you worry about subliminal messages in TV ads? ... asks the US government  about  QE ... It is usually the US Govt. asking the Fed isn't it? You do know that the Fed is independent, for example Bernanke was appointed by Bush.

The FED has a combined private bank and public componet . It claims to be indepedent but The Treasury Dept actually controls it by algorithm . The Congress has it's hand of control also by vetting the 12 board members and holding secheduled periodic and special hearinngs .. Permanent unlimited fluctuating QE has just been added to the program ........So stop talking this ...more

It claims to be indepedent... but is actually run by the illuminati, right? QE1 ended, QE2 ended. Guess what will happen to QE3. IT WILL END, actually it will taper off first, then end. It is simply a matter of when and most economists are expecting it this year. But none of this matters. The relationship between QE and gold has been broken. Gold is in a near two year bear market. KBG is ...more

"it is run by the illuminati."..... That is just an illusion .... The President calls the chairman in and gives him his marching orders based on the president's political agenda ....The congress has show hearings and gets to nitpick after confirming The Chairman and Board . It is all politics ,hense part of the Government apparatus ... "QE 1 ended , QE 2 ended ,QE 3 WILL ...more

based on the president's political agenda But Bernanke was appointed by Bush (in 2006 and was an economic adviser to Bush before that) - so are you saying Bush and Obama have the same political agenda???  Have you lost sight of reality??? QE never ended and will not end . No need to answer my last question. Are you saying zero is a number so when QE goes to zero it is still going? So QE1 ...more

Fed Chairman Yes they are appointed by a president and basically follow the political agenda of the president . Presidents change and presidents also often change their agenda to fit the needs of the time . The FED either follows or there becomes a huge national problem . Canada had a crisis when the central bank head Mr Coyne openly bucked PM Diefinbaker . These breakdowns are rare as both ...more
