undelivered research report

So, my theory is this:Talk of the new variant was abuzz prior to the expected release of research data, right?  ....and how could that data answer the obvious question, right? So, when the necessary new reasearch is done we are either going to be very screwed if it turns out the answer is no (and alternatively very rewarded if it is yes). In the meantime that question has to be a huge problem for potential buyers (imagine being under contract and learning that the new variant would not be detected).

But my sense is that these variations are not significant enough to change the fundemental structure of the virus and would likely not matter - but it is a fair question.

Of course this is all coming straight from my yass yass yass so take it with a grain of salt. Speaking of salt....

Laphroaig10... (Lagavulin 16 is a close second)

Cheers!

My understanding from what I have read is that Biocloud will work for the current Coronavirus and other future viruses , I think the Biocloud detector not working for new varients of coronavirus is a non issue, I think the delay in reseach report has more to do with the holiday season and maybe some final adjustments. It wouldn't surprise me if we see the report issued next week ...

I do agree nearnorth that it is much better to release the data next week instead of during the holidays.  Do it when the markets are back in full force, not during the lull of holidays.  I did think it was odd at the time to do it during the days before christmas. I just wish Paul had said "in the first week of the new year" rather than make it sound like it was to be ...more

Agreed.  I am no scientist either.  But everything they say about the variants is that the difference is extremely slight.  So it would be unlikely it changed enough to avoid detection by Biocloud.   On one hand...i guess....until you actually get a hold of the variant and test it, you dont know.  On the other hand...I bet they could tell by its chemical makeup ...more

I can't see the labs they are working with getting their hands on the variant quickly. Like the rest, I am not in the research field, but my understanding is that every virus has a bunch of markers and some markers in variants will be different, but many will remain the same. So, in my mind BioCloud will miss the variant if the markers that they originally detected turn out to be all the ...more

All very thoughtful and reassuring posts so let me hope you guys are correct. Yeah, they wouldn't be able to get their hands on it to test for some time anyway and the holidays are possibly a factor. Still, though, a balk.

I can say very confidently that a different variant of the same virus will still trigger BioCloud. You would need a significant structural change in the virus to for it to go undetected by BioCloud. Most mutations occur within the surface protein (in this case SPIKE protein) of a virus because that is the part that interacts with our cells. It would be a complete rookie mistake to target the ...more
