No. Short Selling provides balance to the market, keeps stocks from being priced too high and keeps them in reach of interested retail buyers. Short selling is needed for liquidity. Besides, most small caps, and stocks priced under 1.00 are NOT ALLOWED TO BE SHORTED with regulated and well known brokers... I would say this is a growing problem of abuse in recent months and years - Time to look at allowing it only on Stocks on major indexes . Even there I'm not a fan - Major financial firms now often make more money in a down market than in a positive one. The idea of the stock market is to invest into a company, not crush it. If it's a good company people will invest.

The ideas of the stock market was refurbished years ago and is defined as lining the pockets of company insiders and hedge fund exectuives.
