NDX Mines

I think shareholders will be disappointed with NDX's results. The alabama mine at best will be marginally profitable. The blue gem coal seams are at most 24 inches and auger mining of thin seams is expensive and not cost effective. You always have to keep moving the machinery down the line. Further, I think the company overstated the results of the portable wash plant. These mobile plants do not yield near the same results as a real wash plant.

In terms of the rex mine, I would be surprised in there were not delays and cost overruns to get it in operation. There was not alot of due diligence that went into its acquisition.

I am really surprised that Sandstorm did not have a real coal guy involved in the investment decision. I think NDX wil be asking to Sandstorm to restructure its agreement just like Royal Coal.

On the IR firm, the other companies they have represented have done very well, particularly the potash companies. However, the CEO is a young arrogant guy who is vastly overpaid, particularly in terms of the options he receives.

We shall see .. it's beat up because of sentiment like that I suppose. I've decided to spread some money over some beat up coal companies, NDX, ECX, and PCY .. good luck

Disappointed shareholders can be a funny thing. With two mining units at Rex going at 15,000t/mth and the Rosa mine doing 10,000t/mth it seems that, given the conservative numbers used in the resource reports (and adding 20% to the mining costs, even), the company can still pull in a decent net profit after payments to Sandstorm even in the near worst case scenarios. Generally pie in the sky ...more

Hi, I checked with a very large investor in NDX. The seam is  34'  not 24'.  As with most miners and much of life  only time will tell if they make their pjojections. dyodd best wishes Soccer

Wrong, the Rosa seams are 24 inches, that is why they are using augers, otherwise, if the seam were 34 inches, they would be using a highwall, substantially more cost efficient.  Maybe the rex mine is 34 inches. Will have to check.

At the Rex Mine, rehabilitation and development of the mine entry and mains are well underway. Over the last week the Company started producing coal from the mine as a result of developing additional mains to support future operations. Coal seam thickness measurements in the mine are ranging between 36 and 42 inches, in line with nearby drill hole intercepts used in the calculation of the Rex Mine ...more

Yea, those numbers are right. rosa seam 1.28 ft (~15-16") rex seam 27" - (24-42). That news release that specifies 36-42 for the area can seem a little misleading when you consider that only a small portion of the mine has a seam of that thickness. Here's a youtube video of the Rosa project mining:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0qG0w8GFXw Also, the permitting of the washplant at ...more

It's curious, because in table 3-6B (page 12) showing reserves (today this has changed! increase in resources, decrease in reserves) it shows more reserves in the over 30 inch category than in the 24-30 inch category. Meanwhile, I don't see a halt called, but no bid or ask?
Comment by errussell on Mar 01, 2012 9:33am
Nope...the ask is there as well as the bids....just no action yet:
