Each of the past 2 trading days, NEM has traded 3M+ shares at the close. This suggests either a buyer(s) of size or the Company actively repurchasing shares. That said, the gold in the ground has not evaporated and can still be sold at or about $2,600 per ounce. In addition, with the price at or about $37ish, does that not make NEM at an attractive/reasonable target for acquisition? To buy the company in its entirety, would cost less than covering the underlying shorts.
