Could a knowledgeable person comment on

What various % ownership # allow or requWire a public company to do:

going by memory I think the following %'s mEatter

1.   10% -reporting

2.    51% -effective control?

3.    66%

4.    90% carry out an amalgamation squeeze  out

Could someone familiar witht the rules set out what the various % permit one to do?

My recollection is that it isn't as simple as 51% allowing an owner free reign!

So the price immediately jumped to tender price.  But not so ...more

So I believe pala can do a hostile takeover by simply making a public offer that people would tender to. But they would risk there position with the shotgun clause. Ph is a perfect fit for what barrick has announced. Pala is the deterent to any hostile attempt. nf

Rockhound, This is of course a complex question. The best sources I could find on Securities law in Canada are : Bennett Jones Public Mergers and Aqusitions in Canada which you download as a pdf. There are others like Stikeman Elloit M and A in Canada: Minority Shareholder protections which can also be downloaded. The issues differ a bit by province, and by the exchange under which the company is ...more
