Competitive bidding is the right and smart way

This quote below is from the article regarding Coldeco's recent bid for a 10% stake in a Chili copper mine operated by Teck Resources. Looks like the people behind Nevada Copper are going through this in-court (supervised) sale transaction the smart and right way, to ensure fair and competitive bidding for all. Companies with great copper assets would be shooting themselves in the foot by selling in a "friendly" deal. How do you know if you get the best price if you only make the assets available to a select few?

"Sonami has said any sale should be done through an open and competitive process."

With so many interested parties, and no one knowing who is potentially ...more

If that is correct rw, then there will only b a few high bids. If a lowered bid does not get access to final auction, no one will go through the effort, bid fee and bond just to b punted. Tues. Mmh, you may want to consider reading Paul Klemperer's book “Auctions: Theory and Practice”. It provides a comprehensive overview of the theory and practice of auctions. Klemperer is a renowned economist who has extensively studied auction theory and practice. He has made significant contributions to auction theory, a specialized field of game theory that deals with the allocation of ...more
