What went wong?

I have just come back to look at this 2 years on  from when i put it on my watchlist - thank god I didn't buy any.   What went wrong - all they had to do was dig it up and shiip it out?  do you think they knew there was no chance of a profit from the start?

"What went wrong -" First, Pala is NOT a mining company and in the beginning IMO they never intended to build the mine themselves.  The plan was (and it was done properly IMO) to permit the mine and provide a bankable feasibility study for a major with deep pockets to come in and finish development. Then bitterly revengeful Republicans in the House held up the Land Swap Bill, just ...more

Hmm, you miss the point. The UG mine is sunk costs but the OP has a sales value of 1.5 to 3.15 bn $ in the current status and under fair conditions. Or, in other words: why is Kinterra spending 125 m$ for pumping water and for overpaid lawyers? I'm ...more

Just curious if the people from Pala Investment that lost $600million or so of Pala Investments are still alive ? How could they explain putting the company into Bankruptcy Protection then loss all ? Or did they ?

If Pala got better treatment than other shareholders, then the buyers, who were presumably in on it, are responsible to make sure that all the shareholders get fair treatment. Otherwise there is fraud, since people bought shares with expectations not to get cheated

Might be good to focus fraudster complaints toward the Chicago SEC, since a bunch of commodity markets are there. They are pretty friendly to talk to, and return phone calls. Also the Chicago SEC has a reputation for going after fraudsters, and could even be interested in the sell-off results right now. Also wonder about the chairman of the board for NEVDQ. He never let on that the shareholders ...more

Also, the chairman of NEVDQ had a run in with the SEC a number of years ago, for defrauding shareholders, and got off pretty light. Said he was sorry, and would not do it again. And paid a fine. So maybe the SEC was displeased with the results before, and would look forward to another bite at the apple. Meanwhile the interim "owner" may not have the resources to disagree with the SEC. So ...more
