I don't agree with your reasoning. Gutsy without smart and scared, or cautious is like throwing caution to the wind. The definition of "throwing caution to the wind" is someone that does something without worrying about the risk of negative results. That is not considered sensible. Not a good thing when you invest in my opinion.

I would say that anyone who does not invest using his inteligence, (smart), and with caution will not do well. If he does well on occasion, it will be sheer luck.
