Georgia election

Wrote it for this board and then posted it on PIPE.
Getting old and feeble in the mind, as per below :-)

I am so happy with this neo-liberal way of living my life.  We are so Free! We can do, say, write and behave as we like.  As an Atheist, it is so nice that all people understand me so well when I say: "Each for himself and God for us all".

So, I have taken care that I have earned enough money, that I've saved a bunch, that my monthly pension pay-out is sufficient for my needs, that I have no financial worries.
I pay my taxes on  income-, capital-, real estate-, any and all purchases (21% in France), my insurance premiums, for  car(s)-, motorcycle-, house(s)-, health-, funeral-, travel and so on.

Now, most people that love to live their lives this way, firmly believe that all people should and are able to live their lives as responsible and free as we do.

These mutts do not realize that it is only a minority that can afford themselves to live like us. It requires knowledge (formal education), the mindset of dilligence, working attitude, dedication, responsibility, empathy, altruism, stamina, compromise, that properly growing up in a good family may teach one.

The larger part of any human population needs help to just get around. Looking after yourself in this neo-liberal world is quite a task when everyone in the whole world is your opponent.

In this wonderful neo-liberal world everybody is looking after himself first and then looking after himself second and third.

And that's why I am so glad that I am allowed to live in this "socialist" cesspool called Europe. Nobody in Europe calls Europe "socialist". Sure we've got socialist parties in Europe, but it's liberals that govern.  In my country, there will be parliamentary elections this March. The nice number of 79 parties have indicated that they want to participate. Most likely more than half will not qualify, but that will still leave ~30 parties to chose from. No "winner takes all", but all will have to come to a consensus on everything. Europe is something like that, just bigger and more unruly.

With us, most everybody has full  health insurance for very little money. A year's university tuition comes to <$4000.- (cheap student loans available, of course). Most people with regular jobs have four or five weeks paid leave (holidays).  A thirteenth month pay, a present, is available for many employees at larger companies.

So that's why I would favor Georgia to elect two Democrate senators. The established Democratic party would in Europe be considered pretty much on the right hand side of the political spectre. Yet, in the USA, they would help the unfortunate people who have a hard time looking after themselves. I would applaud that.

Have fun.

I don't post much here but had to becasue I loved the thoughts shared in this post. (RuudInFrance) I am a believer in God but I coudn't agree more with the ideas presented here. God helps those who help themselves.  People often forget that all of us are part of a society. Paying taxes is a very noble way to help the less fortunate in the society. I wish there was more a healthy mix ...more
