As I have been mentioning here for some weeks now I did not think Wade would win in the first (yesterdays) election barring fraud. It now looks like he will not. Early polls point to a tight race between Wade and Macky Sall who happens to be a GEOLOGIST and was once minister of enery and MINES under Wade.  A runoff seems pretty likely now and I am happy for the people of Senegal because they appear to be having a fair non-fraudulent election.  Hopefully the fairness will continue through the runoff.  As far as OLE, as I also stated before maybe a change in government will reinforce the view the world has on a democratic Senegal and promote more investmnet which can only be good for OLE.  A deal might take longer but it may well be worth it. Senegal president agrees to runoff https://www.news24.com/Africa/News/Senegal-president-agrees-to-runoff-20120228 looks like we have a new man in power in Senegal if the divided vote comes down to a vote between Ol' Man Wade and Macky Sall. I think this change will be a positive for mining community in Senegal. It would be nice if it is positive for the larger community as well. now lets get ...more
