Currently on the call. Management have stated and re-iterated this was out of “an abundance of caution” that in “no way” affected operations at Santo Tomas. Apparently the authorities informed them that they were taking action as a result of “low-level activity” that has been present for many months and should conclude within a very short space of time, possibly next week. Management are taking ...more

The conflict only last weeks?
Comment by MrMaKunPeng on Jun 09, 2022 7:09pm
they mentioned it is about an intervention from federal in a disoute between 2 smaller criminal lements (families?).  not close to Santa Tomas but the trucks that bring in supplies go on the roads closer to there.  Expectation is to be back soon, could even be next week but of course unsure and they wil put out a PR when back at drilling.

Hmmm, not close to ST, just the trucks. Nice of OCO to have clarified this in such a way.

Mexico generally leaves cartels and smugglers alone so long as they don't get too loud or threaten key infrastructure / trade.  From reading between the lines it seems like conflict between these two groups in the remote mountains had escalated and a feds came in to "clean up" (aka, kill all of them). Even though it's not close to Santo Thomas is makes sense to keep people ...more

The longer this lasts the less sence it makes, now well into the 3rd week,,!!
Comment by MrMaKunPeng on Jul 05, 2022 5:57am
Fully agree that this is very disappointing. the blog of this week perhaps even more so, no news about the halt other than " we are monitoring the situation"  plus 2 bullish links on copper long term. The article about how mining stocks perform so well after a downturn is ridicoulous to be used by Oroco Management in my opinion and even comes across as desparate. It talks about the ...more

Just to add that management remain very upbeat about meeting stated timelines for PEA, resource expansion, etc. Staff are still at Ranchito cutting core. First 5 minutes were spent discussing today’s NR and the remainder has been about the project, progress, timelines, etc. Unfortunately, no information regarding exactly when we can expect net set of results but they are "conscious of the ...more

One would hope that they have been "conscious of the need to put out results as soon as possible" since they started drilling right? That is really a meaningless fluff statement. I am curious why it seems to take Oroco much longer to release assay results compared to other junior minors. For example, both Filo and Solaris have released 3 sets of assay results in the last 2 months while ...more

Thanks to all of you who posted summaries/impressions from the management call. I didn't think I was going to be able to see it, so thanks also to MCE for providing it publicly. I am in the process of watching it again and will provide my reactions. Overall impression - This represents a third, solid step Oroco has taken in short order to address retail investors' feedback, the first being ...more
