The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, Sept. 15, edition that ATB Capital Markets analyst Patrick J. O'Rourke moved his rating for Painted Pony Energy to "tender" from "underperform" in response to its agreement to be acquired by Canadian Natural Resources. Birchcliff rose 8.9 % yesterday . I presume mostly on the strength of an upgrade from $2.10 to $2.50 by the self same ATB analyst.

Yes, I suspect the deal will pass. Other than a few disgruntled longs here, there is no interest in pursuing a better deal.  'Move along, nothing to see here'.

Probably more than a few disgruntled longs, but company was poorly managed and market is weak. It's a $hit offer, but company has a lot of debt (poor mgmt!), and there's no other interest. Them's the breaks.
