On the road again.......

Interesting to see in Peregrine's annual report to the NIRB that the company met twice with the Ministry of Economic Development and Transportation. This would be the arm of the government associated with the road to Chidliak funding. I certainly don't believe they will get anywhere close to full funding of the road but as Ekim stated the cancellation of the Grays Bay Road relieves some funding pressures. Approximately 2/3 of the road follows the traditional winter trail to Pangnirtung so there is a duo aspect to the benefits of the funding.

Government funding should be directed to areas that are in desperate need of infrastructure or projects that can show reasonably well that they will be paid back in full and then some or the infrastructure can open a strategic area for generations to come. Izok Lake and associated mineral properties is no Ring of Fire. I have been watching Noront Resources for a long time now. I believe they ...more

dont know what ya'll are smoking but it sure looks like some of the stuff your busy legalizing.  (Thanks for that btw). The government is not going to build a road for us, period.  Welfare creates welfare, wealth creates wealth.  We need an announcement of a buyout or partner really quickly now, (I know, its been less than 2 weeks since the PEA) (that was another train that is ...more

I think the other aspect related to any potential funding of the road is the government stating the fact they coughed up $85 million dollars for the building of a deep sea port. Therefore don't come to us looking for more handouts. I do think they may kick in a commensury amount in to show they support the project. Cheers

good point shneps, a shout out helps, plus think even the government coffers are getting bare with the bailout of KMorgan, of the government(s) own doing, which IMO, effectively kills the pipeline, no other oil company is going to touch it, and the feds need another 7-8 billion to build it, so much for your juniormint climate change champion if he does, so no money for a road to a diamond mine ...more

Hard to say about some of those things. The Deep water port project had been around for long before Chidliak was ever discovered. The question is whether the Chidliak project has had any influence in the governments decisions on these projects? New international airport. New Deep water port New light craft dock Doubling of the Diesel farm for Iqaluit. These were all needs for Iqaluit. LONG ...more

We’re talking about Trudeau here, anything is possible. I can see him now all teary eyed at the podium in downtown Iqualit announcing the the new road “Trudeau Way”.

...and the siloquette to that if you are a Trudeau hater...is...that replaces 'the road to nowhere'. Oh wait...its the same thing . Myself...Trudeau/Harper both half okay prime minsters. Didn't like Mulroney much. Chretien was okay. Preston Manning...now there was a candidate that had character and took all the humour at him in perfect step.  Too much hatetwitter on politics. Not a Trudeau hater at all. I believe that there will be some assistance from the feds regarding the road. It adds further value to all the other infrastructure you mentioned. If indeed this turns into a mining district then money well spent.

Trudeau is a lightweight, Kenny has him pegged, not even close to the old man, silverspoon drama queen, but we are stuck with him. Enough politics, it is depressing, the quality of the people running for office is sad, I fear for the millenials, and my retirement. Speaking of which, nice uptick, very noticable, thanks kodi.  Maybe some rumours starting to get out.  Havent sold out ...more

Anyone remember the slogan from the last election regarding our Mr Dressup? "HE'S JUST NOT READY" They were so, so right.

Place this perspective on the port. It will take approx. 1/5th of the time that it took previously to offload a ship. That is a huge cost relief (and time) on the shipping company. This means that more ships can be loaded and offloaded. Potentially five times as many. Load/offload in one day instead of five. I easily see this government money actually being recouped in a few short years without ...more
