I wonder how much the Nunavut Gov't will charge PGD in fees for using the $85M Deep Sea Port, cuz I'm sure it won't be free.

It will be a commercial port. The point is that it will be cheaper then the current offering --> NEAS Because you can deal with larger shipments and you can load/unload a lot faster. The season won't depend on the forklift out to the sealift either...so it will be a longer season on both ends of it. You are right, it will not be free...just cheaper. LONG...PGD EKIM

There's ice in Frobisher Bay until July, and the last boat is mid-November before the ice freezes up.  That's a short window period.  Plus the Nunavut Gov't will likely charge a premium on every single boat PGD loads and unloads... how else do you actually think there'll recoup that $85 million investment.  That port is awesome for Iqaluit residents, but ultimately ...more

PGD will not own any boats and will hire a commercial shipper to send up their materials/equipment. These costs will be the same as any shipment arriving in Iqaluit. This is diamond mining, not iron mining, there wont be much if any shipments south, most likely they will fly the diamonds out.
