Looking at the dates at which the expired concessions have been published as freely claimable over the past years (1), you can see that last year, the fourth and last publication was made on November 30th, which could make one believe that the remaining 6 concessions without MC would be "published" next Monday and be "back in the market" on January 2nd, 2021.
To explain you why it seems to me it won't be that way, let me quote what Mr. Javier Nieves Tuesta, Ingemmet's Head of the Documents and Archive Administration Unit, said back on November 2nd, during the reception of petitories (2) (mark 14:22):
"(...) this activity, as I mentioned a while ago, is regulated by Article 106th of Supreme Decree 03-94-EM in accordance with the provisions of Article 65th of the General Mining Law. So this is one of the recurring annual activities of our organization. There are four "free claimability events" per year. Exceptionally, due to this pandemic situation that hits us, this is the only event of this year. What do I bring for you this morning? Also the commitment of our institution, our authorities, and my own, to continue working so that from now on, strictly observing the principle of impartiality (...) we implement the online petition, to be completed this year, there is almost nothing missing ... first we need to give you the body through which it will be made available to you, I am the official which has the leadership and responsibility to carry out the online petition (...), that is a unique, special entity. That is why the mining regulation, as you know, is a mining administrative procedure but of a special nature. It is subtracted from the scope of the General Administrative Procedure Law. So, our entity is working so that from now on you can request petitories both physically, in person, as we are used to, and eventually also virtually or remotely (...)"
Thus, if we assume Ingemmet's plans have not changed, then the next publication of freely claimable areas should be done on March 31st, 2021, and the new petitories could be presented starting on May 3rd, 2021, in person or even online. If the Medida Cautelar has not been issued by March 31st, the 6 remaining concessions could be claimed since May 3rd:
Colibri II
Triunfador 2
Triunfador 4
Porsiaca Estrella
Tantamaco 6
Tupuramani
Of these concessions only Colibri II and Tupuramani have uranium resources used in the Macusani Project's PEA.
