If they really had any interested parties no way would this guy be stepping down.  He would want the glory of having sold it.

Looks like they couldnt get an offer or at least an offer worth anything and he realizes he is too old to put in the effort so he will sit on the board doing F all like most board members do.

Never heard of a company bringing in a new ceo and then selling out right after that.

think that's a bit of a leap.  nobody said there were no interested parties. nobody said no offers either.  an offer worth anything?  that might be closer to the right thing. a lowball offer will or has been rejected is my guess. hence plan B, which they've been advertising all along. looks like there is no bidding war at present. too old to put in the effort? that's..
