Ouch

So someone please explain to me what Netflix has to do with Shopify. Shopify is getting hammered compared to the Nasdaq or even Lightspeed. What the hell is happening? Did I miss a news release.

Hey BrokerG,  I wish I could explain entirely, but what I saw was a couple of things: 1) Investors worried about growth tech stocks that are not generating strong profit, turning to more predictable stocks, maybe traditional dividend stocks & energy instead, and 2) a series of downgrades on the SHOP stock, a fresh one has just been announced, to $800 per share. These high flyer spec stocks (no earnings) on the TSX always end up being the ultimate pump and dump plays. This also includes LSPD. Both are good for short term trades but thats about it.

Shopify has earnings. This is not an earnings issue. This is not a mining or energy stock. Look at Netflix. It has solid earnings and it got hammered. Tech stocks are susceptible to rates and any negative future trends get amplified in tech sp. I think lots of people have "gambled" money they can't afford and they now are running with their tails between their legs. I think we should ...more

Mrtkr1...my error...I did know SHOP has earnings...got ahead of myself when typing and meant to mention that LSPD has no earnings. Agree with the points in your thread.
