Similar valuation to Sunniva would work out to just over $34/share. However, Cannimed had some very special technology that we're about to hear more on. That was the reason for their crazy valuation when Aurora wanted to take them over. From what I understand, Aurora has some news about that technology coming out very soon along the lines of a pain medication comparable to Aspirin/Advil ...more

@BeerGeek: Great post. You said "Cannimed had some very special technology ...." yes, and Sunniva has NHS and over 100K patients. @Sunrize - Totally agree that NHS is a great asset for Sunniva to hold, and we can all agree that vertical integration is a smart move. However, the value I see in Sunniva achieving great heights isn't through NHS. It's through the strategic planning of manufacturing location and thinking into the future. Sunniva's focus on low cost of production, means that we'll weather the ...more

Would it be fair to say that a patient base of 100,000 could be comparable to a general population of one million or more? I found this stat from 2017: "Average amount of dried medical marijuana authorized per client from April to July 2017 (in grams per day) - 2.3g" So, 2.3g X 365 days/year X 50,000 (rough guesstimate of 50% of registered patients) equals 42 million grams or 42,000 kg ...more

@scopro - Lets look at myself as an example of the average consumer. I'm a 35 year old male with chronic back pain. My medical marijuana prescription is 2.0g/day. Trust me. There is no way I come even close to smoking that much, and I would be impressed if anyone could keep up with that 7 days in a row, let alone 365 days per year.  Also, remember that Sunniva is planning to be a ...more

just to add if I may, the medical play for Sunniva is going to be more second tier, ie with DIN#, proven research and FDA approved. For example, Epidiolex, when it takes off will need large scale pharmaceutical suppliers of their proprietary concoctions, which is estimated to be $32,000/ patient in sales. The secure white label services will be secured at a premium. Linton is looking to get first ...more

Excellent points as always. Medical cannabis is going to be a lot more "medical" and differentiated as research and development evolve, but the common theme is that clean product and consistent quality will always be critical and not just command a premium, but represent a baseline requirement for more advanced usage, whether in beverages or medicines. That's a key advantage Sunniva& ...more

Apologize for excessive posts today. A few points regarding NHS clinics that may not have been considered.  1. these clinics are self referral. Current situation in Canada has most doctors not familiar or comfortable enough to presribe cannabis. And then there is the doctor shortage situation in many parts with waiting lists. And there is a good percentage of the population that would ...more

Righto. I noticed that stat of 2.3g/day per patient was just for dry flower. Not sure if medical grade cannabis oil was factored into the stat, so I assumed it was, and assigned a combined average value of $12/g. I failed to factor in the ratio of total consumed vs. total prescribed. It was late last night when I turned my calculator on, my apologies.
