Any thoughts on volume

The last few days the volume has been less than average.

Is the pump over.

Stock going down on low volume is not a bad thing, i would be more concerned if it was down on high volume.

You have to expect a correction after a run up, this may be the pause that refreshes.

I will add to my position if it gets into the thirties.

to go from under 30 cents to over 40 cents on extreme high volume and then have a little breather on low volume is healthy in my view. i would be worried if SND was still flying north non stop. little breaks are good to flush out weak speculative hands. just my simple thoughts.

Is the pump over? The pump was already over before day of that pumper's conference call. The conf. call is the final distribution You do understand that the teaser video is specifically designed to make it incredibly easy to figure out what company is being featured. So the 'lemmings' in this case are the ones who thought they were ahead of the game by figuring out what company was ...more

Looking good to get back in with a low volume drop - was getting nervous watching it get away from my sell price of .45 last week, as I want to be in this long term (apart from my flyer in the warrants).  Here's to sub .40 - for a brief stay ...

Volume is starting to pick up as P&F chart passes through reversal marker which was .44, price objective is still $1.00 on the chart, so bullish trend has not been broken. https://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.pnf?chart=Snd.v,PRAADANRBR[PA!E20,2!B20][D][F1!3!1.0!!2!20]&pref=G

Our board is infested with technical traders - sad days.      Anyway, an interesting comment was made about SSL, that selling shares at its current share price is anti dilutive.  I agree.  As of today, SSL is trading at almost 60x earnings, and probably in the range of 30x-40x cash flows.  All streaming / royalty companies are being bid up.  So, for the 90% of ...more

Bleh.  Wrote half of that after a long meeting.  I meant with the stellar performance of SSL, faith in Nolan has been restored somewhat, and that the PV of the CSI deal is ~$15 million as of today (2 years from production).  At the time of production, NAV is above $20 million due to the time value of money, or 4x greater than our initial investment of $5.25 million.

elmo -- the TER situation is the last that needs to be addressed in order to get rid of the baggage -- it hasn't happened yet but we all know it's coming --I assume it will prior to YE so that the situation is addressed before a new fiscal year begins.
Comment by elmothefearless on Oct 18, 2012 5:22pm
I'd venture to extrapolate that the TER situation will end happily - TER is in talks to be acquired by a public O+G company, who I can only assume, will honor the SND stream.  Big win for SND shareholders.  The two oil pools are expected to produce ~1,000 BOPD each.  1,000 BOPD x 350 operating days x $75 netback ($90 oil - $15 purchase cost) x 20% interest (25% interest in one ...more

Wow, my heads really out of it.  Should read 2,000 BOPD in the cash flow estimate (1,000 BOPD from each pool).

If we raised $50 million, there is a lot of leverage, and I think it would support a higher stock price.   Yes, that's a stunning point about streamers generally. At a gold miner, $50M in the bank is maybe worth $50-$70M (depending what they use it for - capex, acquisition, etc); at an exploreco that $50M is worth nearly nothing since it could just get spent on extravagant salaries and ...more

Yes... dead on, and this is why I have 50% of my portfolio in SND, and I am going to keep holding... had a bunch of SSL cheap but sold for a quick pop, huge mistake (back when it was $3.00 or so, haha ;p).  Even if a miner generates free cash flow, that is going to go into maintaining the mine, exploration, or significant G+A overhead associated with running a mining company - essentially all ...more

grandich...That's a good point about positive feedback in the number and size of streaming deals, and one I have been making over on the SSL board. There are three ways a streamer's earnings can increase, above and beyond what is expected: An increase in the number of streams, an increase in resources from exploration, or an increase in the underlying commodity price. What a lot of ...more
Comment by fleeinggrandich on Oct 20, 2012 8:50am
Well, basic law of capitalism says that at some point, you're going to see a lot more companies enter the streaming space, until the steraming deals are more competitive (e.g. buying forward silver at $25/oz or forward gold at $1500/oz). At that point you don't really want to be a streamer anymore because all your explosive upside gets lost with the increased competition. But for a company ...more

This point was brought up with NW a few weeks back about Samsung as far as others entering the picture.  His reply was that when SND or SSL  do the DD on a company they send 70+ years of expertise into the mine.  They look thru 100's of offers to find the right fit.  He also confirmed that a few years back there was a shortage of qualified CEO's and managers in the ...more

Being such a nice guy and all ;-) he's also said that competition will only further validate the business model in the eyes of the market, and that there is plenty of room in the SANDbox for others to play along. (Good luck finding a CEO of Watson's caliber, however.)
Comment by denisonod on Oct 21, 2012 9:59am
NZ, nice post.  Just would like add that NW pays more than average for top knotch talent.  This is hyper important when the number of employees is in the low two digits (currently around 17-19).  I find it very hard to trade either Sandstorm (especially SAND) because we are never more than a week to a couple of months from a new announcement (PR, earnings report, financing, etc ...more

Thanks, denisonod. Agreed that a company's performance is never the result of just one man. In fact with such a small group of kids playing in the SANDbox, I am sure everyone from the mine analysts to the receptionist are not only the best money can buy, but all feel they are working for something more than just money (and I don't mean stock options). I haven't traded any SAND/SSL yet ...more
