lots of pessimism on oil lately, by design or not i don't know but democrat are desperate for vote and keeping oil price low to election time is good politic. Just look at the evidence.  -when saudi and russia announced production cut in August, oil continued its downtrend -when libyan oil went off line by 350,000 b/day, market ignored the news -when china announce a huge stimulus ...more

Corvette…possible but I think if the battle intensifies, thr primary targets will be Iranian military installations and communications networks.  Attacking oil installations would have no immediate benefit to protect Israel. ''Frankly, from past experience, I see the current run up in oil prices as a pump and dump by the pros.

I beleive it will very quickly start to defund the proxies but agree they will hit communications and military bases. We will see GLTA

Corvette....Hezbollah already has a massive amount of missles etc stockpiled so for the foreseeable future money is not required. That said - in a protracted war Iranian oil installations would be part of the menu but IMO that is months away.

The proxies have loads of rockets but they can;t eat them.Iran is already suffering from sanctions. Take away the oil and they have nothing. They are paying the salaries of all their proxies. We shall see but this is not a secret to Israel or the U,S.. GLTA

seems like the WSJ jumped onto the recession sentiment bandwagon and make up a story about opec to flood the market again and drive oil down to $50 which the saudi flatly denied. Real or not it sure drove down oil prices with their massive oil short seem to in favor of democrat re-election. OPEC rebuts WSJ article on Saudi saying oil prices could drop to $50 | Reuters Democrat surely don't ...more

Picking a year and using an inflation calculator to say the current price of something is cheap or not is a silly argument. To prove the point, oil was $1.88 a barrel in 1926.  The inflation adjusted price today is less than half the current oil price.  So using that measure oil is very expensive today.  Conversely an iPad today costs less than the price when Apple introduced it in ...more

Is oil today cheap or expensive relative to the price in some bygone era?  I dunno but the current price reflects the supply and demand situation now with exception of short term price inefficiencies and as an investor that is what is important in making decisions not the result using an inflation calculator.  of course you don't know, you haven't shown us any analytical ...more

consumer index inflation calculator is useless but your woodstock ticket price inflation calculator to today's taylor swift ticket price is your experienced way to evaluate inflation.  No change on my view of you, a poser analyst
