Dumping the Air Transat deal is a plus at this time. Combining two different corporate cultures, and having to provide assurances re keeping QC office and staff would be an unnecessary burden. AC maintaining business building flexibility is paramount. AC plays grandmaster level chess. Will assuredly have planned on how to build its own 'Transat' expansion by now. Bet, any valuable employees from Transat will have their CVs out to Air Canada shortly ;).

Personally I think it is best for AC they do not need the burden of Transat right now as Transat is going to need an infusion of about 500 million.  I also think it is good for the Canadian Consumer.  If Transat goes into creditor protection they will come out the other end a much more competetive airline and be able to offer more consumer choices.  I do not expect a liquidation but ...more
