Shutdowns????

So Swoop is being closed out as is Sunwing meanwhile the head honcho tries to explain it away by the competition and pricing of a ultla low cost airline and vacation specialist will continue.  His arguement is Westjet airplanes will have some ultra low cost seats on the same flight as regular seats and some will be regular flights and some vacation flights and some mixed.  It is a new model to maintain ultra low cost and competition in Canada.  Meanwhile the interviewer is too dumb to ask him isn't that the old Olilgopy model?  

So is this good for Air Canada or not?  Hard to say?  Most likely it is good for AC but better for someone like Transat.  It may also be more expensive for Canadians in the short run but may be just what we need to break the monopoly.  Bring on Southwest and Jet Blue!

An advanced and modern booking system is what Transat did not have in 2019 and still don't have. It works ok for near time bookings but they usually underprice bookings 8 to 12 months out. That sounds like it is good for customers. But if it's ultimately cutting the legs off the company and its investors it's not a good plan. That's why they tried to sell themselves to AC. Yep, something is changing, slowly. For now, US airlines are busy enough to look for distractions (lack of pilots, slow deliveries of new planes etc)...but later ?  2025? At the same time, AC is well positioned with the 6 th freedom traffic to bring Americans Overseas.
