Union says proposals have been based on survey data and industry comparators. The company’s responses do not meet our expectations. Progress has slowed due to the distance between the Union and the Company.
the stance of the union is this is a legacy airline not some whimpy ULCC or national airline like WestJet. As a legacy carrier that management frequently (in pen and paper) compares to Lufthansa, United, KLM/Air France, Americans Delta for performance metrics and compensation pilots are entitled to comparable Legacy pay with the 25% cdn dollar discount.
It's a weird situation even pre 9/11 former contract wages (inflation adjusted) were 50-100% increase to today's value! I believe their high point was Delta wages, AC countered at a 30% raise and they are supposed to meet in the middle but that's rumours. The real struggle is quality of life management appears to refuse to budge on any of those items
