Met adjusted earnings estimates and the big headwind was domestic-flight competition in the States, something which does not affect AC. International revs were solid.

Yep, too much domestic capacity in the States, meanwhile too tight (for the consumer anyway) in Canada - especially since Lynx Air went kaput. I think we'll see a nice boost to the SP on August 9th with the Q2 ER. AC should pull in $650M+ adjusted net income for the quarter.

A new report says travellers are paying significantly more to fly within Canada during peak tourism season compared with last year, as limited capacity and competition outweigh softening demand to push up airfares. In one of the previous Q (I think Q4), only 27% of AC's revenue came from domestic market (not including transborder). I believe that number would be lower in 2024 (because of many new international routes). As country/people, Canada is more connected to the world due to its higher immigration numbers esp in recent year.  For US airlines (Delta, United and American) this number is >60 ...more
