Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon is stepping in to get trains moving again after an unprecedented lockout by the country's two largest rail companies.

He will use his powers under Section 107 of the Labour Code to ask the Canada Industrial Relations Board to impose final, binding arbitration.

Break out the Champagne ,  bad timing for ALPA get ready for arbitration .. I believe the Supreme Court will eventually rule the CIRB was wrong.  It won't matter of course because it will take a few years to hear that. I said I didn't think the CIRB would do this and I would admit if I was wrong so, I do.  I was wrong about this.   What this will ultimately mean ...more
