A comparison. Solve the equation......
KL's net earnings for Q4 2020 were $232.6M. EPS was $0.86. The merged net earnings for Q4 was $111.3M. EPS was $0.46. It is reasonable to presume that the Q4 2021 net earnings for KL as a stand alone would approximate the same as 2020 of $232M IF NOT HIGHER as 2020 was impacted by COVID and efficiencies and improvements were realized in 2021. That said, AEM earnings as a standalone can be determined using the following formula: $232M (Likely KL) + xM (Actual AEM) = 111M. Solving for x for the actual results in AEM suggests that AEM had NEGATIVE earnings of $(121M). Yep, a merger of equals. Anyone surprised that Tony ran away. Probably embarrased to show his face everywhere but the bank.

Merger was completed on Feb 8 so no KL results were included in AEM's Q4 results so no "merged net earnings for Q4" are available as far as I know.
