Doubling down

The Mexican government also is said to be doubling down on an effort to criminally prosecute First Majestic's local unit, Primero Empresa Minera, for tax fraud related to the scheme, even after a judge delayed filing charges last week.

Mexico's Tax Administration Service has sought 5.5B pesos ($267.1M) in tax debt so far, with the remaining half of the total yet to enter into formal disputes, according to the report.

Mexican tax authorities plan to seek more than $500M from First Majestic Silver (AG +22.5%) for what they claim are taxes owed for artificially keeping its silver prices low over the past decade, Reuters reports.

LMAO...the best part is where it says the Mexican government accused FR of artificially keeping the silver price down for the last decade..lololol. Yes I'm sure that's exactly what they were doing..lol. Like I said, Mexico doesn't have a real case here. And in the 1 in a billion chance they actually win, it will hardly affect FR if they have a sum to pay. Don't let these desperate ...more

Ok fat finger second try. If Mexico were to win in this tax case the friendly mining jurisdiction their reputation overnight would become: Newest third world mining Sh*thole country! Mining companies would pull out of sp many on going explorations that they'd have a new Revolution! They have already mucked up the oil industry. The thing they still have is mining.
