IIF presentation

Quick recap:
As usual very long on operations and very short on finances.
1) the usual slides about how important tungsten is and how unique the Sangdong property is
2) repeated that they are 6 months ahead of schedule, project milestones unchanged, on budget
3) highlighted ESG compliance and equator principles

interesting for me:
  • New video of a 3D-model of the plant in it's environment was produced by METSO and will be shared very shortly
  • described the workings of the new 4G phones system they built with Korea Telekom
  • meeting with KfW went fine, discussions about downstream project go well
  • listing in Korea:  only when Sangdong is in operation with positive cashflow
  • new clients: first meet obligations under takeoff with Plansee, taking on new customers will also depend on dialog with South Korean government
  • updating of the block models: will be done eventually but right now too many other things are happening underground, presently installing transformers
  • 1.2 mill production capacity by end of 2024, under ground earlier but will not rush to the finish lines but get things right
  • mentioned some other production figures at the end but too fast for me to follow. Maybe other folks can add to this.
no chance to ask questions during the call, only previously submitted questions. Was not asked about share price dilution / new private placements etc.
I leave the best quote for last:  "The stock price did fairly well in recent times, I can't complain".

Thanks for sharing, your summary is much nicer than mine, glad you heard the 1.2 million production by end of 2024, I see this as really important, how about you? Two things to add that you helped me remember: 1. There was a chance to ask questions, you just needed to post them in the Q&A feature during the presentation. 2. On private placements, I think Lewis addressed that along with his ...more

Blueskies, yes I think the 1.2 mill production is important since it confirms that hopefully the full ramping up will be done by the end of 2024.  The only reason why some people are nervous about dilution was the analyst from Sphene Capital who suggested this as likely although he did not show any convincing numbers. I think since Sangdong is funded with the KfW loan hopefully the other ...more

therunner, thanks for the response. Yes, the Sphene Capital report had a couple of oddities in it that seemed uninformed, one being the production estimates and the other being the capital comment.

Additional Points from IIF meeting: When will Surface Works commence?  LB: "Patience....I will address it".... telling shareholders to be patient but didn't state when he will address it. Difficult to follow the traditional block model because tungsten is everywhere...no barren areas anywhere. Underground work is 6 months ahead of schedule. Primary goal is of ...more

On the low end, profit will be around $40M US, but depending on taxation rate and and initial tax holidays, etc. profit is expected to be north of $50M US annually. This is a great start, but I would really like to see additional profitable growth by other mine aquisitions.
