Generally all engineering sketches and calculations are done by hand on paper. Maybe different now?? These sketches then go to the drafting team to produce working detailed drawings for the Concreters, Steel Fabricators, Piping Suppliers and more to order materials and plan the build, then do the build. 5silver you appear to have left the action some years ago LOL preparing drawings per hand....not really! we have our specialists designing whole plants on software tools. you see the whole plant in 3d models and can also simulate activity before having built anything in real. you can overlay various levels of the model (underground / above ground) to check if you have a clashes. from these

5silver, this was the best comment all day. Harks back to a bygone age of when engineers to draught their ideas. nowadays everyhting is done in CAD and literally the plant goes up like lego. The precision of these software systems is incredible. there wil be a virtual reality that the engineers are working with.
