FTS vs ALA

FTS has been the darling in this space for a long time - and deservedly so... We can see it is just 10.96 off its high for the past 12 months whereas ALA is off 14.03% as I write.

But this suggests to me there is more runway room for ALA at this stage.  Even a return to last year's high would take us to 22.74  which would be not too shabby a gain.

I would buy FTS when it dips on sale  and it is still a good buy for the long term.

Dividend though shows about 3.83 %  which is one reason I favour ALA right now plus its price to book is still much lower.  If you can handle volatility for a few years I think ALA wins out... ON any given day or week no one really knows ( including Vega :) )

Its been a long rough ride but I have to say ALA is finally out of the dog house.   A dividend increase along with increasing revenues and decreasing debt is a formula that investors can  build upon.  I look forward to a continued steady upward path.   Underpromise and over-deliver is mantra to my ears.   Randy has steadied the ship and we are now underway.  All the ...more

Comparing ALA to FTS is comparing apples and oranges. FTS's ace in the hole is that over 90% of their revenues come from transmission of electricty and not generation. The transmission lines are to electricity what pipelines are to oil and gas. Building new transmission lines and corridors are not without their own environmental challenges so the barriers to new entrants is high. They deserve ...more

I'm glad I started a spirited discussion of the merits of buying FTS as opposed to ALA. I don't think you guys give me enough credit for the contributions I make to this board.

Mutt and Bushman make a perfect pair in my eyes. They're both sub-human.

That darn Donald Trump has put poor Mutty under some sort of hypnotic spell. Those guys at Fox news should be ashamed of themselves.

I can see it botthers you VEGA but it's probably because you keep clapping yourself on the back so much that any acknowledgement from those on this board would be redundant.  On another level,  those that seek out approval from others for validation are in fact deeply insecure within themselves.   Ring a bell?
Comment by Vega1357 on Dec 11, 2020 7:02am
What is it that you think bothers me? I'm not bothered by anything you say. Also the expression is "patting yourself on the back." Again, where did you get the idea that I'm seeking the approval of others? Altogether you just flunked Psychology101, not to mention English.

Can we act like mature people..and stop insulting one another. I come to this board to talk about ALA. Please. Thank you.

??? When you hold a stock you want us to buy.  When you don't, you want us to sell.  Pretty basic. In addition, you don't hold for a very long time so it becomes a "flavour of the month" thing ( more like flavour of the week) with you. Just saying :) Mas

Stocks move up and down. Have you noticed? Which at times makes them buys and other times sells. Once again, it's called TRADING. Why is that so difficult for you to understand?

FTS just crossed above its 200 day moving average.
