Ripet and Ferndale activity

Constitution at Ferndale

Crystal River at RIPET

Odd that Constitution is at Ferndale today and scheduled to be at Prince Rupert Port on the 20th according to Prince Rupert Port arrivals and departures.

The RTI  (Ridley Terminal( schedule   has been updated to show VLGC constitution arriving on May20th.  Expected loading is 12000 tonnes.  I suspect that Constitution is  at Ridley to load product other than propane.  The most likely product would be  butane. Butane has a much higher spread than propane.   We  already know that Ferndale  ...more

Very good tracking of the Ferndale/RIPET activities and the fact that Constitution will go from Ferndale to RIPET for May 20 to load 12 000 tons  in 3 days. Goog work and very informative .

I noticed the RTI site you use was a little late in reporting Constitution.  No worries, glad I could point it out, coming from Ferndale that is. Also, I believe you are incorrect supposition Constitution is going for Butane.  Both Altaga liscences are for propane specifically, not Butane and Propane.

GunnerG :  Your  point is noted.    I was thinking along the lines of prototype , development , proof  of concept.  An experiment  to work out the bugs  to prepare RIPET  for butane handling and export .  The license would not be a commercial 25 year  but   a short duration of  1 or 2  ship loads of 12,000 tonnes.  ...more

Nothing to do with prototype, development, proof of concept.   Investor relations reply to my question of why Constitution was going from Ferndale to RIPET. Hello,   Thank you for your interest in AltaGas. That is an astute observation. Since taking ownership of Ferndale mid-December 2020, we engage in a general business practice of volume optimization. Ferndale differs from RIPET ...more

Thanks GunnerG.    So why is Constitution going to RIPET.  IR says "volume optimization".   Alright.  Thats one way to describe it.  Another way  is : RIPET  will be running out of storage before Gas Wisdom  arrives,   so RIPET needs to unload  12000 tonnes of propane (which is  125,000bbls  or  2 days ...more

"So why is Constitution going to RIPET."   Volume optimization, current pricing or other market dynamics; all in order to maximize profits.  I have confidence in managements ability to utilize facilities and rail assets to maximize profits. Not sure why, but you constantly point out the failings of CNR to deliver stock, Ridley not having enough stock to fill tankers ...more
