Stronger $ US

Most of ALA revenues are in US and the  report in Canadian $
At ,74  the factor is now X 1,35 while it was not so long ago X 1,26
Of course Q3 is the weakest in revenue but the share price has a nice showing and increase revenue  in the Q4  combine with a weaker Cn $ ALA share price should be back at $ 30 or more even with a mild Recession !

Note with hypothetical number :
  $ US 5, 0 B revenue with the actual exchange rate at 0,74..= $ 6,75 B
and    $ US 5,0 B........................................................at 0,79 =  $ 6,30 B
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Bottom line  + $   45 M

 The old man is still ''in''with  a modest anount  and see a better overall yield than a 3 years ''locked'' CPG at 4,4 %

Might as well go with TD,  Better upside and higher divy with the bank.

Stick with energy, and possibly mining, after the markets take a deeper ...more

I agree with you again. During the last recession about 20 years ago I bought bank preferreds at 50 percent of face value. Once things got going the Bank called them, and I made close to 85k. Since the preferred were called in, there was no commission.  Nice. Anyway I also had some TD preferreds,which I held for 5 years, collecting the nominal 4.7% dividends, and since I bought them on a ...more

I bought TD stock during the covid recession Feb-Apr 2022.  Dropped from $78 and I bought for $49.50. Divy at that time was .79/qtr or 6.4% per year.  Very happy. Happier when I sold at $107.10  Still hanging on for a lower price.
