I  have been following AQN for  awhile now ,  and there are a couple of points that clouds my opinion on AQN. 1)It  has been mentioned several times that AQN is looking to purchase a utility in Kentucy for a few B$.  Where is this money going to come from?  Issue more stock? Borrow more money?  Might be a good deal long term but investors  are thinking

Lets look at bit closer at the possible purchase of AEP’s Kentucky’s power Utility.  Numbers being discussed at 2.8B with 170k customers.  What is AQN   buying ?   A subscriber base and coal power facilities.  That’s  16.5k per customer.  Now , of course, AQN  being green will want to replace that coal plants with green.  That’s another &

I  saw some of the analysts  that follow AQN report on this possible purchase.   Their comments did not provide any numbers .    So everyone that follows AQN knows of this possible sale. I  believe that markets think there would be additional funds needed .  The market fears possible share issue to help pay for this purchase. Until further

Interesting detail from an RBCCM report dated August, 2021:  Kentucky Power has a rate base of ~$1.9B (31% related to coal) at the end of 2020, and coal makes up 74% of the generation mix. The RBCDI authors note that this info comes from the AEP website. .
