Meno

Meno, I would hope so. Maybe that was reason for company stopping buyback. Keep price low so insiders
could get cheaper shares. Hate to say it, but there was no logical reason to stop buyback with amount of cash
on hand and coming in. And, imo, insiders have shown an ability to make moves that help them more than
us. Between Guistra and Sprott, insiders have been exposed to some real shady "investors" and maybe
learned a trick or two. Operation of company is spot on, but I have had some questions regarding assets
going and coming back. But, if it gets stock price up, great. If not, buyback cheap shares. If it is good enough
for insiders at this price why not company/shareholders???

Absolutely no reason at this point not to have a NCIB in place.  I think even a few small buybacks  (as little as 20 or 30k of shares a month) is a strong enough message to send to the markets...

It is highly likely that the guys that lend them 300 Millionen to build Toroparu forced them to cancel buying back shares.  That is how things work, if you wanna have good financing conditions, which they got!  But in the world of small thinking people, it always has to be a conspiracy theory or management holding down the share price to get more cheap shares.  ‍‍‍

Given how oversubscribed the offering was, I really tend to doubt there was ever any such stipulation attached to the "general corporate purposes" part of the funding.  Besides, it's not as if the amount that might be needed to send a sweet little "we think our stock is tremendously undervalued here" message to the markets wouldn't even add up to much (relatively ...more

With all the GCM insider activity, the challenge is not so much when to buy, but rather when to sell (in time).

they stopped the buyback because toro that they had just bought was not fully funded and they knew they had large tax payments due in q2. they were down to $57 mil after paying those tax payments and did not want the cash balance to get too low. it is simple math. everything does not have to be a conspiracy theory. now that toro is fully funded with the 300 mil financing and wheaton, they will ...more

I'm well aware of the reason why the buyback stopped, which is all good and fine.  Furthermore, I think the financing was great (for both sides, quite frankly.)  My primary grevance here is that at this point in time (or at any time in the near future), they CAN'T buyback any shares - no matter what sort of price volatility there is (or might happen) in the overall market ...more

i was replying to tsoprano not you meno, on his speculation why they stopped the buyback. instead of having a grievance from speculating that they CAN'T buyback shares, why not just contact them and ask? no need for people (in general, not targeting you meno) to get angry at management and make up speculations when the truth can be cleared up by just asking them.

Unfortunately in the stock market and more so, the mining industry, it is a conspiracy. I can't possibly see how buying back stock, which I assume would be under book value, could be against rules. And you make $57 million sound like they are paupers. 50,000 shares at $5 is $250,000. Seems awfully doable. Heck, why not 100,000. Like meno says, send a message we are out there buying. But, what ...more

Sopr-anus Written like the chronic loser ,,,how many opportinities has this guy had all the way down from 8.00/   All the while gold may be experiencing the start of a melt-down but he wants management to buy back shares to help out his chronic losses on this badly run company.

$57 mil was low when toro was not fully funded. miners normally don't buy back shares when they have unfunded projects. it would be pointless to buy shares and then sell shares at the same time to fund a project. at that time it was unknown how toro would be funded. now that they got the financing, cash jumps $300+ mil and they are not cash paupers anymore. 17,377 oz x 12 = 208.5k oz, right ...more
