Gcm should have left Aris alone

Marmato has a history of resistance to mining there. The people there don't want it. The priest of the local church lobbied the government not to mine there and was murdered for it by someone tied to the mining companies. Now we have this. It would have been better if gcm left aris alone. They may end up paying for this mistake. . . "Colombia has a new President and an Anti-Miner as Minister of Mines and Energy I write these words on Saturday afternoon but by the time you read them, Colombia will have a new President as Gustavo Petro is sworn in this Sunday, August 7th. Also this weekend, we finally got the name of the person nominated as Minister of Mines and Energy. Thats Irene Vlez and if there were any doubts up to now about the policies were going to get from the new Petro government concerning mining, this should dispel them all. Irene Vlez Torres is an academic, activist and professor at a Colombia university. She formed part of Petros handover team and was first tipped to be the Minister of Science, but instead has been given the job of running the Mines and Energy Ministry. Her interdisciplinary qualifications include Political Geography, Philosophy and holds a Masters degree in Cultural Studies. She has worked on studies documenting the effects of mercury pollution from mining companies and glysophate (RoundUp) pollution from Big Agro companies on communities, as well as the effects of the drop in water tables caused by mining operations on the agricultural production of local communities."

they were only against marmato open pit because gcm wanted to move a town on that mountain. there were already artisinal miners there using mercury. aris is only doing underground mining which does not disturb the locals there, but gives them more jobs. minister of mining being pro-environment does not mean anti-mining. she is against using mercury which gcm does not use. gcm helped clean up all ...more

Great response to misinformed poster invest234 ...and you beat me to a poorer response on my behalf. Other thing is the enviromental activists in Columbia at least in past show up in  mass and drown out any opposition. In past have noticed they like to show up with dirt in  plastic bottles and wave them to others there to show how they are polluting the environment. Regardless they ...more

The government gave them a 30 year mining licence for Marmato.  Do you not think there was some form of consultation at the community level before considering extending the mining licence for that length of time period. The Soto Norte Mine is another great example of implementing the highest environmental standards and stewardship when it comes to mining practices. It's been designed to ...more

Soto norte will be  the " cote gold " of aris. A paltry 20 % irr after  tax at today gold price. In case it will become reality , aris will have  more than 80 % of prod in colombia . Don't tell me this is diversification.  The company can be a big producer over time , i fear the stock price for a small will suffer a lot.  The only chance to be interesting ...more

To see the outcome of the next aris , look at equinox . All time low . All is said .

Well, EQX is a good comparison. I would consider both companies as similar growth stories, so market cap should be similar as well. Current EQX market cap is 1,7 billion CAD. Assuming 150 mio shares outstanding for the New Aris, share price should go to at least 10 CAD.

Don't be fooled by size or mcap . The only thing important is the price of stock as i guess you are a "small " shareholder .  We were told by fino , analysts and others the stock will hit the 10 and 15 0r 19 for redcloud .  We are at 3.6 , or the 2019 price .  All theses managements look by the size of the company , never by the p.o.s. So i give you my bet : before 2 ...more
