No one can say for sure about these things. Barrick did everything they could to adress the environmentalists complaints. They were willing to commit many millions more to make the project conform to any issue. And that mine would have put Chile on the map as a major mining jurisdiction. Barrick even committed millions to enhance the lives of tge local peasants. But the government favored the
