Drilling Permit
On October 10, Alta Copper Corp, which manages the mining concession, announced the approval of its request for an Environmental Impact Statement (“DIA”) drilling permit by Minem and the receipt of the Certificates of Nonexistence of Archaeological Remains on the Surface (“CIRA”) from the Ministry of Culture (Mincul).
 
In a press release, they stated that these achievements mark a key milestone for the advancement of the Caariaco project, which is considered one of the largest copper deposits in America.
 
It was also stated that the company planned to begin drilling before the second quarter of 2025.
 
It should be noted that the San Juan community is considering resorting to the judicial instance to stop the advancement of this mining investment, which they consider very risky.

It is a process - we have come further than in any time in the last 12 years. Next must be to communicate with and to the people of San Juan and take their concerns serious. It is clear there will be no project withput their agreement, but there will also be no or only limited local development without the mine. The people of San Juan,will have the final decision about their future, but in a world ...more
