Drilling Permit
On October 10, Alta Copper Corp, which manages the mining concession, announced the approval of its request for an Environmental Impact Statement (“DIA”) drilling permit by Minem and the receipt of the Certificates of Nonexistence of Archaeological Remains on the Surface (“CIRA”) from the Ministry of Culture (Mincul).
In a press release, they stated that these achievements mark a key milestone for the advancement of the Caariaco project, which is considered one of the largest copper deposits in America.
It was also stated that the company planned to begin drilling before the second quarter of 2025.
It should be noted that the San Juan community is considering resorting to the judicial instance to stop the advancement of this mining investment, which they consider very risky.
