Lot of watchers

I noticed there is a lot of reads on this bulletin posts, which means either people are waiting to buy or have bought and are watching...regardless, i would say ATH is a very closely watched stock for sure.....which means it can go parabolic at any moment...tick tock...tick..tock....

Chris is doing both. He's sitting and watching with his 100 shares. The "easy" money has been made with the double from 11. Some may argue the next double is the hard one? I would argue quite the opposite. It sure was lonely buying it when it was 11. No social distancing required in early November. Not exactly a rave yet but I noticed the crowds are gathering as well. The shameless ...more

Agree. Also now there is an obvious acceleration I am thinking ATH will show the same curve CS was showing me in the last 9 months. It will be an unbelievable ride.

I am very much doing both, Maxy boy. MEG and ERF and the 100 shares of ATH are enough energy exposure for me. Cashed out of the other energy stuff in December and put it into copper (CMMC and TECK.B), which also saw a nice lift in the reflation trade. Waiting for a tech pull back to put some money back into that sector. Portfolio at the moment is more lopsided than I would like. Can't say ...more

@ Chris007 - Lots of optimism across the entire commodities complex these days fueled by a weakening USD.  Not pumping uranium but worth keeping an eye on.  Breaking out like the oils appear to be doing and there will be 10 baggers in some of those names as well - hoping.  Too much froth in the tech sector for me.  Higher interest rates - that may occur - will chew away at the ...more

Indeed, this reflation trade has been a profitable one thus far. However, like I said, I currently have too much cyclical exposure at present in my equity holdings.  Higher interest rates will obviously increase the required rate of return for all equities as per CAPM and DCF models. However, it would be nice to pick up some reliable growth names trading at lower multiples for a long term ...more

How can you talk of higher interest rates when debt levels already are crazy? https://www.visualcapitalist.com/americas-debt-27-trillion-and-counting/ M1: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/M1

@ auburn2 - The Fed in all likelihood won't tighten the money supply but the bond markets can and will "demand" higher rates of return on lending instruments if inflation moves higher and cuts into the margin of their returns.  Tesla for example already has a forward P/E ratio of over 1400 times and even a 1% rise in interest rates would raise hell with the PV of their DCF.  ...more

Chris,we are in the same boat,i have 2 stock ,ATH and  CMMC .ATH used to be my main stock, but with the run CMMC is having  ,its now my main stock, what a great company. And they have plenty of upside .
Comment by Chris007 on Jan 10, 2021 1:30pm
CMMC had a great run last year and is still running. Very high torque to copper and very high beta. As long as cooper continues to move up, it will do well. TECK.B is a more conservative, diversified way to play cooper. Decent copper exposure, but metallurgical coal also makes up a big part of the business, which should also probably do well with the reflation trade (especially with the current ...more
