Smells like ATH is heading for an acquisition?
Would make sense. With oil price staying high and debts evaporating, the big fish would be looking around. M&As will explode soon. ATH is insanely undervalued. Their cap is not even USD 1B. $3B tax pool, huge reserve (and likely much larger than stated), steady FCF...this is one juicy target. This would explain the surpressed upticks in price on good days. A potential acquisitor would be accumulating and manipulating the price. Seen this pattern many times before.

Strathcona Resources - Waterous - could take Ath private - a few options exist.

I believe your right. This one is behaving a lot like Claude Resources , before the run up in 2016 and take over of Silver Standard Resources .

I've thought this for a while. Hope you're right.

I concur that M&A will pick up as the oily names get rid of their debt. I was worried at 30 cents but not now. glta

yeah, well, don't cheer too much. If a hostile bid were to be made, they'd only offer you a measly 30% premium from where the share price is here.

I would hope it's CNTL or Cenovus. Unfortunately both are carrying debt from recent acquisitions

A play from either of these two companies, would be with house money
