SPR Inventory

Over 273 M barrels were released from the SPR during the last two years.

Finally last week, the U.S. managed to put 1 M barrels back into the SPR. Maybe this is part of their five year plan because it will take more than five years to restock the depleted SPR at this rate.

When WTI went back up over $80, they cancelled any further buybacks. There goes the five year plan. Buying back 1 M barrels will allow them to tell voters that replenishing the SPR is a top priority and a work in progress.

  That's why the weekly EIA and API reports have been nothing but a swirling wet mess of deception during the two years of SPR releases. In my opinion that's why WTI price and weekly EIA/API reports have become disconnected over the last two years.
