All the big dividend players are flirting with 52 week lows

While we are flirting with 7-9 year highs. What does that say about buyback strategy? And the 0 debt has something to do with it too ;)

MEG is not at a yearly high and MEG has a large buyback strategy and produces heavy oil just like ATH. There goes your argument, poof. I own a bunch of oilers and can give you info (or look it up yourself) that huge dividends and buybacks are no guarantee of success. The reason ATH is doing well is the joint venture recently announced with Cenovus. Period.

Your theory about the recent joint venture is not enough to explain the last 2.5 years of top performing metrics my friend. ATH has been one of the best performing Alberta oil plays since 2022. It has to do with a number of variables most of which is the balance sheet and managements commitment to buybacks as the main strategy to return fcf to us. The problem with the dividend, just in one day you can going down more than  your dividend ex: BIR  has .80 pennies year dividende  but the stock  was at $9.50  and now is at $5.70, and  the .20 pennies  by quarter  is less than what you can make in one day,  so   the dividend  did not make  something positive in   the ...more
