Dreams and play with numbers

Now that most posters/investors are ahead in their SNC portfolios it is time to dream and set our minds at ease.  Some compelling times for companies thinking of taking over SNC.  At he current price SNC is valued at 6.6 billion.  At a 15% to current prices SNC is worth about $44.70 a share or 7.6 billion.  Or do you wait until next quarterly results and if they are good (lower LSTK cost and addition funds from Scandinavian sale) you may have to offer up to $50 per share or 8.5 billion.  The longer the wait the higher the price for SNC.  A large American company could snatch up SNC as the American price of $50 translates to $37.80 a share to them.  They could spin off or sell what they don't want and pick up Atkins and Nuclear on the cheap.
I realize that all this calculations are made at the most basic level and the billions of dollars is taken as a grain of salt but is nice to dream while we are on the rise.
In reality it will be a bumpy ride until LSTK is gone and proven earnings are established hopefully within the next 6 months to a year I will see my $60.

Yup pretty much what my own opinions are as well.   Why is SNC all of a sudden shooting up from no where?  No news besides the ordinary contract wins which we have seen regularly over the last year in particular.   Could be a very good upcoming Aug 3 ER that the large whales already get a first hand preview that the rest of us don't.  I figure a good revenue, cash flow and ...more

Any thoughts of potential takeover would have to take into account the Caisse de Depot which holds over 18 million shares.  I can only think of Stantec either buying or merging with SNC as they have a Montreal head office (which is a touchy topic in Quebec).  I don't see the Quebec government allowing SNC to be taken over.  It is always fine for a Quebec company to buy a foreign ...more

I agree. I don't believe in the buyout scenario for the same reasons. If it happens, fine, I'll be more than happy about it. I am eagerly waiting for the next report on short positions which will be available before next ER.

Even better if no buyout then imo.  If a buyout happens then we get the initial 25 to 40 percent pop then thats it.  On the other hand, if we let SNC progress on its own standalone company we will easily get to $50, $60, $70 plus over the next few years.  The tailwinds are there for sure.  I am ok with it.  We are starting to approach the sweet spot now and going forward ...more

Any thoughts of a WSP taking over or merging with SNC will also not happen then if we are saying the Caisse or the Quebec govt will not allow it. The longer SNC continues to move up in price the tougher it will be to happen.  That's the problem when you have a large significant shareholder who owns both Quebec based engineering companies.  They have significant influence and can or ...more

In my humble opinion, readings and experience: 1. Caisse and JFL will support a merger IF WSP can demonstrate substantial savings resulting from the integration. Note that WSP HQ are also in Montreal.  2. Caisse will support and actually deploy every effort for WSP to acquire SNC should there be another pretender in the woods.   3. We are not out of the woods on the Eglinton ...more
