Stockchase After the Close

Markets across the board rallied on Tuesday, and not just equities. It was rare for oil and cryptos to rally in synch with stocks. A wave of green hit traders’ screens as all sectors rose in Toronto, led by consumer staples, discretionary, energy, financials and materials. The TSX advanced 1.32% for the session.

Tech names were the best performers, including Nuvei at 7.18%, Lightspeed 4.73% and Shopify up 4.08%. Elsewhere, Aritzia gained 3.89% and Brookfield Corporation 2.9%. Meanwhile, WTI crude added 1.45% to $81.25 a barrel.

Wall Street also rallied as the S&P advanced 1.45% to nearly 4,500, the Nasdaq 1.74% to about 14,000, and the Dow up 0.85%. Tech stocks here also enjoyed large moves: Tesla up 7.69% as the most-traded name, Nvidia 4.16% and AMD 3.23%. Also, Albemarle rose 4.28% and Best Buy added 3.86%. The U.S. 10-year yield edged down to 4.118% while Bitcoin surged 6.25% to $27,700.
