Lithium converter in Thunder Bay

Starting at 00:40, RCK's Mr. Harbecke says that at first all processing requiring a converter will happen in Europe for the first year and at the later stage they will also set up a converter in Thunder Bay.

It seems that over the next year or so AVL's raw material from Separation Rapids will not be processed in Thunder Bay if anywhere. I wonder if RCK's is still planning to set up the converter together with AVL.

That's very interesting that it is economical to ship bulk 6% lithium ore concentrate across the ocean in this shipping enviroment.  Avalon has a LOI with First Nations to build the plant on their land. First Nations have their own lithium deposits that would use this converter. I think First Nations would have a better relationship with a Canadian company than a German company. I feel ...more

My gawd, some of you will swallow anything a mining exec can spew out his back end.

What do yo mean? I quoted executive Harbecke saying that at first all processing requiring a converter will happen in Europe for the first year and at the later stage they will also set up a converter in Thunder Bay. Are you saying this will not happen or what?
Comment by TickerTwit on Nov 10, 2021 9:32pm
The one in Europe seems supported by the German government, which (I would hope) means there has been 3rd party due diligence and feedstock exists. But in Canada, where does the feedstock come from? Not RCK or AVL, neither of whom will ever produce. So ... from whom? .
Comment by Cartmanbrah on Nov 11, 2021 12:53am
So basically, when RCK claimed they will mine spodumene in Ontario they were in effect lying whereas you are telling the truth.
Comment by TickerTwit on Nov 12, 2021 6:43pm
Rather than lies, consider them to be statements of likelihood. RCK's statements are extremely unlikely (based on Canadian Shield mining history), while mine are extremely likely (based on Canadian Shield mining history). No one, as far as I know, has advanced a primary-lithium project in the Canadian Shield past PEA. AVL will not be an exception because they will never get enough funding for ...more

The price for lithium hydroxide has doubled since June. The price for Tin is at an all time high and is in a super cycle that will last 10 years. I don't think you understand how much lithium and tin is needed for the green tech revolution that is happening. It is an astounding amount.
Comment by Cartmanbrah on Nov 15, 2021 1:21am
Likelihoods…”my gawd”. Surely you have more confidence on the lesson you gave us. Yes or no? Spodumene, petallite, lepidolite etc. will be mined in Georgia Lake or/and Separation Rapids by 2025? Construction of a lithium converter will commence by 2025 in Thunder Bay?
Comment by TickerTwit on Nov 15, 2021 11:34am
"2025" is where the external (i.e. market) economics fail. The majors will have ramped up before then; shareholders in Ontario lithium will watch the market fall away from their high-cost projects. RCK's plant in Germany is a maybe, IF it truly has cost-competitive European (not Canadian) feedstock. Production in Ontario is very unlikely, by them or anyone else. I understand your ...more

I didn't want to sound rude and repeat myself, but you are not being helpful. I didn't ask about likelihoods or requested for another lesson. You posted originally: You do, don't you?
Comment by TickerTwit on Nov 16, 2021 11:12am
But it is about likelihoods. Both AVL and RCK could develop fantastically successful lithium operations in Ontario, no matter what I or others predict and no matter how many have tried before and failed ... but how likely is it, based on the technical reports and the realities of the evolving lithium market? You've received help from me already, even though you don't see it that way. I ...more

It was never about me asking advice whether I should put my money on AVL (or RCK or whatever). I’m a happy owner averaging at 0.07 CAD and will continue being happy even if I lose it all for that matter. It was all about you and your categorical statement:
Comment by TickerTwit on Nov 17, 2021 6:36am
Before you read the PEAs, read through a few "Concerning Forward-Looking Statements" disclaimers. Then ask yourself why you understand those to imply that statements of likelihood follow, and why you understand this to be the case even if the company does not issue the disclaimer. And finally, ask yourself why you don't grant that same understanding to my forward-looking statements. ...more

If I ever want to invest in lithium and rare earth mining (or Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, if you like) for some other reason than just the fun of it, I look forward to discussing with you more in depth. Before that, how about a little bet (betting goes well with likelihoods)?   YES! Spodumene, petallite, lepidolite etc. will be mined in Georgia Lake or/and Separation Rapids by 2025.  ...more

Bet # 1: Let's say that on Canada Day 2025, either or both of RCK's or AVL's deposits must be in steady-state production of lithium ore (this disallows a surprise discovery of something else). Bet # 2: This bet is difficult to accept and I'll pass on it. RCK can start construction (it helps the ongoing investment story) without being fully committed. If the CEO can get bonus ...more

And, of course, neither of us should be relying on inside information. .
Comment by Cartmanbrah on Nov 18, 2021 1:41am
Bet #1: I undertand your bet is NO with the conditions you gave. Stakes: Like RCK, "I'm the one in Europe" and I have never even been to Canada actually. But in the end both of us would be extremely happy if this lithium scheme in Ontario ever realised. So if we are still around in 2025 and the lithium mines and the convertor are up an running, let's meet in Thunder ...more

LIthium prices seems to be on the run again and this is everywhere. Will Avalon manage to capitalize on that?  A lot of negative opinions just show people's fear about the future. Maybe investing is not for you? Bringing all the time the not so succesful past of the company is not an indicator for what the future will be. On the other hand, extremely hopeful and rich expectations that ...more

$10 is what happens if China cuts off the US from rare earths which is highly unlikely. The stock will go up 100x if that does happen, but the rest of my portfolio would crash. It did it before and history likes to repeat itself. I'm in this for the lithium and tin

We should each take copies of the last few posts we've made so we don't lose track. I don't know if Stockhouse has a firm rule for retention; I have seen some disappear from other bullboards (e.g. GEI is now missing posts older than nine months). Good luck to us and to AVL and RCK. .
