Prediction

Market knows the Friday 'PCE' is the feds preferred guage so if its deemed "good" that solidifies the June cuts it could be off to the races.    Of course if it comes in BAD, then perhaps the june probability becomes close to 0% and we get flushed

this scenario would make powell and friends and biden admin that seem confident about the downward trajectory look plain FOOLISH imo

Pce doesn't have as much weight towards shelter which explains the lower number.

Tell me exactly how rates impact shelter number.  Probably have opposite effect of stifling new builds or higher rents

Rents are higher because home prices are higher as these rents/home sales are priced at the margin. This tells me that if a landlord down the street is renting his house for $2500 a month then it sets the market price for rents in that area. Of course not all homes are created equal but this is ballpark figure.  Why would rents be higher? Well, if a landlord is paying a higher mortgage rate ...more
