And rather easy no brainer idea as well.

Have a bill, any good/service in the CPI basket like insurance, portfolio management, services, if the price is raised that after 1 year is annualized more than 3%, add a 10% tax on profits.

You'll be surprised how inflation gets stuck at < 3% rather instantly

Of course, you can provide reasons why that work work, but really its no different than using interest rates as a one trick pony either

Its not like this is any different from what the government is currently doing- Toronto lets jack property tax by 10% cause we need more $, lets raise capital gains tax to 66% cause the wealthy can pay more and so forth... govenrment is a bully, might as well do it for INFLATION and tax these capitalist price hikes

  That wouldn't work Gary. If you tax corporate profits, say a grocery chain, they will simply increase the prices of goods so their after tax margins are identical as before.  If you can picture a supply/demand curve, an increase in taxes shifts the supply of goods to the left which pushes the equilibrium point higher and consequently prices.  Inflation can come down ...more
