Alexco Suspends Milling Operations, Needs Additional Funding

Alexco Resource appears to be having some difficulty in preparing its Keno Hill property in the Yukon for full scale production. The firm this morning revealed it is not only being forced to halt certain operations, but also that it needs additional funding if it wishes to obtain full scale production.

There are no difficulties with operations. The difficulty is with maintaining enough ore because of lack of underground development. Alexco's Brad Thrall explained this in the interview that is up on Alexco's site.

"There are no difficulties with operations." Lack of underground development  to provide sufficient feed would be a difficulty with operations. Actually, it would be a fundamental governing difficulty. If I was a cynic I would say it's a perfect opportunity to pick up the company cheap. But I wouldn't possibly say that.

The company explained that in May they were milling (operations) above the 400 tpd capacity at 93% recovery and 16,300 g/t lead concentrate. Fundamental governing difficulty,my a$$. Tell us your experience discovering 100 million oz of high grade siver and developing a mine,Roberto.

Yes not being able to supply sufficient feed to the design capacity of a mill IS a fundamental governing difficulty, it basically means no cash just expenses.  Salareis and bonuses alone should take care of what like 5m of the float. There have also been comments that something was wrong for a long time.  Still above average trading going on with analysts revisions downward. It appears ...more
