a small celebration

My wife and I got our second Covid vaccine shots today. Eleven weeks ago we had the AstraZeneca shot and today we got the Pfizer. Preliminary results from many countries are indicating that this combo (or theoretically with Moderna as the second shot) is extremely efficacious, possibly even better than having 2 Pfizer shots. We are expecting some reaction to this second shot, but chose this rather than getting a second AstraZeneca shot because of the increased efficacy and manageable side effects. The Delta variant of the virus is extremely transmissable and deadly and is becoming the dominant strain so I really hope that you all get fully vaccinated as soon as possible. I may be off Stockhouse for a couple days, but I check in periodically to see what's going on. Maybe BlackBerry will surprise us with some news. Take care.

You pumped all that nano inside you for a 99.97% recoverable flu virus. Brilliant. Hell you ought to go for a third and send big pharma a bonus check. You ever look into the Big Pharma executives on corporate board directorships across mass media? Think they would ever advocate bad news about themselves? Do people just wake up stupid?

you likely believe health care is a waste of time.

Well, so far no adverse effects except for a sore arm. We were told that any problems would show up in the first 12-24 hours, which ends about noon today. Ignore any anti-vaxers or morons who think that Covid is a hoax. Go get fully vaccinated. Protect others and yourselves.

Btw the vaccine does not prevent illness or transmission.. You'll get it a lot less and won't need hospitalization. So if they chose not to get vaccinated it's their choice.

The last i checked by immune system is working just fine 16 months into this nonsense. Anyone who wishes to take the MRNA experiment are free to do so but don't push your propaganda onto others.

Agreed. Let free will reign.. I am not advocating for or against. I am not an antivaxer. It's just that for me, not interested in being part of a beta program.  Not judging anyone's choice to get or not to get this thing. If I saw Public Service anouncements for theraputics, I might have a different stance. Ask yourself though.. how much do you see on promoting theraputics in the ...more

Yasch, I believe you misspoke with respect to the vaccine introducing elements of coronavirus. I reckon the key word is 'elements.' That said, I do not believe the virus is contained in the vaccines being distributed. Could be wrong, but the following was my recollection, which led me to a google search. Apparently, it is a myth that the vaccines contain actual coronavirus-19.    ...more

Yasch, I must say, you're a bit like the Wizard of Oz, with the exception of being real. :) Per usual, your response hit the salient points bullseye... my fave scientist/epidemiologist is Michael Osterholm. I'm in the states or NYC to be specific, where we really got smacked early on. Very sobering when otherwise healthy friends die and refridgerated semi-trailers filled with corpses are ...more

I regret that my original post under this subject has taken over the BlackBerry board. However I am dismayed that my post expressing happiness that my wife and I are now fully vaccinated (we are seniors), and encouraging others to do likewise as recommended by the health authorities has caused such a reaction. We know many people, some who are seniors, who are desperately trying to book ...more

Sure hope Zuckerberg is selling shares ahead of the settlement details(however obsecure they'll be at the AGM) and not because of fears of a correction in the market. And just to add this to discussion somewhat. Lots of media spinning this as an Indian Variant(Delta) which is absolutely not correct. So if it's not an Indian Variant where did this variant originate from . https://time.com ...more

Thanks Yasch. I realized after I posted my take that in my haste I incorrectly said Occam's Razor when it was supposed to be Pascal's Wager being referred to. They gave me Moderna yesterday afternoon for 2nd shot. My first was AZ. So far all I feel is some soreness at injection site. I feel pretty good otherwise and I'll be on the golf course in couple hours. Great words from Digs so I ...more

Hedgetrimmer, congrats on being fully vaccinated. I had the same soreness after my second (Pfizer, after AZ 11 weeks ago) jab on Sunday. It went away gradually over a couple of days. Can't wait for the next couple of weeks to pass after which immunity will be very high. I think it will be a very liberating feeling. I've really missed fully interacting with my grandkids. Enjoy your day on ...more

My wife & I get our 2nd shot today in Pickering. It's not where I live but there was a couple slots available so we took them. My take is this: Call it Occam's Razor if you wish, but think of getting the vax being like an atheist going to church.. One reason an atheist goes to church is to cover their behind in case they're wrong. I don't want to be wrong here, life means more ...more

My excuses Unfortunately I have not studied English, I speak Spanish, French, Italian, but I understand written English so it is very difficult for me to express myself and, obviously, I can be incomprehensible. My complaint is due precisely to the fact that not knowing English well, all the conversations about arguments such as Covid-19 are not necessary for me because if I want to delve into ...more
