8 years of Chen's leadership

8 years after he came on board and revenue continues to shrink, profits are nonexistent, management continues to cycle in and out and the departments keep getting rearranged to making it difficult to compare financial statements from one quarter to the next.

Patagonia and Rug yet again peering out from under the same rock... or, as it were, the fud rug ;)   Seriously, I wonder where some of you spineless weasels come from and how you make it through a day. No one wants to listen to crybabies who can't present facts.  If one is foolish enough to stick around for 8 years, all the while complaining, the only one to blame is in the ...more

Peering out from under a rock? Really? Just because I question the company's management I'm some sort of basher. I'm merely presenting the facts. The fact is Chen took over with the promise of turning this company around in 4 to 6 quarters. At that time Blackberry's revenue was 11.073 billion and here we are 8 years later and revenue is partly 700-750 million. What's more, if ...more

Nope that's not quite it, Patagonia. You're purposefully confusing a long since gone legacy business that was on life support, with the present software business pivot. You couldn't be more full of BS and, of course, you know it. I suspect you may switch to talking about handsets next. But hey, pretend to be the martyred, long suffering shareholder if you must. The truth is, your tired ...more

I'm not confusing anything. Chen came aboard and said he could turn around the business in 4 to 6 quarters. He said he would make money on phones and he has failed miserably. That's a fact. Here we are, 8 years later and revenue is less than 1/20th  of where we were 8 years ago.  I haven't even begun to point out all the many, many ways he has failed and the fact that ...more

Patagonia, sounds to me like you made a poor investment decision and it's time to move on.  Chen did try to save phones and it didn't work.  Even the smartest and best equipped leaders make mistakes. The very best then adapt, making best efforts to change course and right the ship. Chen, in my opinion, has done an excellent job of doing just that. As great as BB10 is/was, it ...more

You're absolutely right and don't let the peanut gallery tell you that your investment was a bad one since you based it on what was said a few years ago!

Even without numbers, just by thinking that BB was saved from near-bankruptcy hardware company and pivoted into today's software company in the two fast growing sectors (IOT and cyber security), the complexities of such turnaround can be imagined.  To invest in the company, if you don't believe in the CEO , it is better to look for other opportunities in the market.

8 years ago revenue was 11.073 billion. What will 2021 revenue end up being, 750 million? The numbers speak for themselves

Not too long ago revenues were over a billion a year.. current yearly revenue way under a billion . Fail.
